MARYLAND LAWMAKERS HEAR CLEAN ENERGY BILLS

Maryland House and Senate committees were business this week taking testimony on several bills that aim to improve air quality and improve recycling.

 

The Senate Energy Committee heard testimony this week on SB 134, legislation focused on reducing food waste in landfills and encouraging recycling and composting programs. Under SB 10, energy derived from waste and refuse would be removed from Tier 1 in the Renewable Energy Portfolio Standard. The aim of SB 10 is not new. It has surfaced in previous sessions of the Maryland General Assembly.
